Imagine how easy our grocery shopping will be, if we walk into a store, Pick some items and just leave the store without standing in lines for checkout?
Amazon started implementing the same idea and they called it as AMAZON GO. It enables shopping experience with no lines and no checkout.
Amazon Go is a new kind of store with no checkout required. Yes, You read it right.
Amazon Go is unveiled on last Monday; it is the latest real-world shopping experience from the online retail giant. Instead of traditional checkout methods, the store uses the world’s most advanced technologies to let customers grab what they want from the store and then simply walk out of the store, according to Amazon.
How does it work?
Amazon go uses some smart technology that is used in self driving cars such as computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning. They call this technology as just walk out technology. It automatically detects when products are taken from shelves or returned to the shelves and it keeps track of them in a virtual cart. After completing your shopping you can just leave and amazon will charge your Amazon account for and send you a receipt.
To shop in Amazon Go store, which will be a 1800 square feet of retail space, you need an Amazon account, a smartphone that supports Amazon Go app. Rather than that, you can shop normally, Just browse and shop like you would do at any other store.
At present Amazon Go is located at 2131 7th Ave, Seattle, WA, on the corner of 7th Avenue and Blanchard Street. At present Amazon Go is open to Amazon employees who are in their beta program and it will open to public in early 2017.
