Khaidi No.150 review
One of the most anticipated movies of 2017, Khadi No.150 released today. For the reason, Chiru is back after a long gap, there was a mass hysteria about the film in Telugu states. Khaidi no.150 is the remake of 2014 Tamil hit film Kaththi starring Vijay. So, the people knew the story of the film even before the release. They expected a faithful remake. Lets see how the film is….
Seenu (Chiranjeevi) is a thief who was imprisoned for petty thefts. He escapes from prison and plans to go Bangkok. Twist in the tale arrives when he comes across an accident and saves a person named Shankar (Chiranjeevi) who looks same as him. At first, Seenu uses Shankar’s name for selfish deeds. But after knowing about Shankar’s fight for Farmers, He realizes and determines to fight for the farmers. What happens next..? what way he chooses to fight for the farmers ? forms the rest of the story….
As the tagline indicates, boss is back… thats what one can say after watching the film. Its Megastar’s show all the way. His appearance, his dance moves and his comedy timing reminds us vintage Chiru. The film clearly targets fans. Fans feel it as a treat, But normal audience may feel it as a normal masala film. First half of the film is just ok. Routine Bramhanandam comedy and dull romantic scenes are draw back in the first half. But Songs scored by Devi Sri Prasad and dance moves of Megastar will entertain us. First half ends in a mass style. Second half is loaded with actual content of the film. The scenes which shows the problems of farmers and the way Seenu fights for farmers are the main strength of the film. Especially the way Seenu and farmers block water pipelines is superb, Its a Murugadoss touch. Dialogues about farmers and rural areas are great. Dialogue writers Sai Madhav Burra, Vema Reddy , Paruchuri brothers done a commendable work. Dialogues of the film are one of the main highlights of the film. On the flip side, The commercial elements dominated the emotional content of the film. So, one might feel the film lacks emotional depth. The Villain characterization also lacks proper etching.
The Climax of the film is a big let down. The Film ends with a routine fight. When the script deals with contemporary issues, The Film should end with a good conclusion. But the director fails to end the film in a convincing way.
Chiranjeevi is back in full form. His screen presence and dance moves will make fans forget about the ups and downs in the film . Kajal looks gorgeous, but her role has no importance. She appears on screen just for songs. No need to specially talk about Bramhanandam and Ali performances, as they are natural actors. But their characterizations are routine. Posani, Jayaprakash reddy are at their usual best.
One of the major highlights of the film is Ratnavelu’s Cinematography. He has done a brilliant work. Production values by Konidela production company are also superb. Editing is just good. The background score carried the mood of the film.
Chiranjeevi vintage dance moves and mannerisms
Routine comedy and masala commercial elements
No powerful villain
On the whole, Khaidi No.150 is a special treat for mega fans. But normal audience might feel it as routine masala film. BOSS IS BACK…!! thats what matters.
RATING : 3/5
