Will your device support Whatsapp in 2017?

Now-a-days whatsapp became our primary way of communication. Since 2009 it has been getting one or other update for it. Whatsapp was started by Jan Koum and Brian Acton in year 2009.

When it was started, it only got some basic features like sending a text message and updating status. But now, it has loaded with features like Voice call, Video call, multimedia attachments and so on.

Whatsapp announced, earlier this year, to discontinue their service for some old smartphones by end of 2016. Wondering? Here’s the reason, those old devices can’t support latest updates and features like video calling. To provide service to old devices, Whatsapp should maintain separate applications for old and latest devices which is an extra burden to them.

These mobile platforms and versions would not be supported by WhatsApp in 2017:

Android : Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
Windows : Windows Phone 7
iPhone: 3GS/ iOS 6

These devices get Whatsapp support until June 2017:

Blackberry 10 running on BBOS
Nokia S40 running on Symbian S40

According to the list most of the android users get Whatsapp in 2017 and iPhone users with iOS 6 or earlier will not be able to use whatsapp anymore.
