What is the relationship between Jagapathi Babu and Sai Dharam Tej? How Siddhu wins his love? forms the rest of the story…
A commerical film can be entertaining yet different. Commercial film doesn’t mean it has to be routine all the way. Winner is touted to be an out and out commercial entertainer. But it falls in the routine films category. Director Gopichand Malineni forgot to add fresh elements to the the script. Except Horse race sequences, From starting to the end, it seems like the film is missing something called freshness. Only the scenes involving the horse race are new. If we forget about the freshness, First half of the film entertains with some comedy scenes. Though the interval bang of the film is good. Some how it is predictable.
Second half of the film was not executed well. There are many ups and downs in the screenplay. Couple of scenes between Jagapathi Babu and Sai Dharam Tej are good. Couple of songs are picturized well. Rakul Preet Singh has done a lot of skin show in the film. This will attract a group of audience.
Sai Dharam Tej has performed with good ease. His histrionics are good. Rakul Preet Singh looks cute and her performance is adequate. Jagapathi babu is at his usual best. Ali and Vennela kishore provided good laughs. Thakoor Anoop Singh is apt for his role.
Production values of the film are good. Visuals looked really great. Cinematography is very good. Especially horse race sequences are shot very well. Editing of the film could’ve been better. Though music by Thaman lacks freshness, they are not bad either.
Rakul Preet Singh
Winner is an outdated package. While Telugu Cinema is in transformation stage, Some are still stuck in routine formulas, Winner is a good example for it. Directors should stop wrapping routine stuff to entertain audience.
If you don’t mind watching routine films, watch Winner with low expectations. Otherwise choose a better option.
